Danger Lurks At Radhakrishna Lane
The right turn from the Peroorkada – Vazhayila road towards Radhakrishna Lane could prove deadly for an unaware motorist | By Yentha

Trivandrum: The one kilometre stretch from Peroorkada to Vazhayila has been long under construction. The work on transforming the stretch to a four lane road is far from over and the dust, soot and the loose road metal pieces tease the bearing capacity of someone riding a two wheeler through this road. But an even bigger danger lurks at the turn towards Radhakrishna Lane.

Both ends of the road that lead into this residential area have been dug up for laying the drain. It has been lying in that manner for over a month now. The sides of the road end abruptly in a one foot drop, which is more than enough to seriously hurt an unwary rider.

“Just last night we had a motorcyclist fall into the gutter. He could have been killed, but fortunately he only had to suffer injuries that are serious but not life threatening,” says Gangadharan Nair, President of Radhakrishna Lane Residents Association.

Various complaints have been filed to concerned departments. Even the MLA had been notified, but no action has been taken yet.

“It isn't such a huge task to get done with; the drain has to pass beneath the road and it would take only three days’ work if adequate number of labourers are provided.”

While the Association President Gangadharan Nair and the Secretary Ashokan are still banging at doors demanding for a quick action, the turn at Radhakrishna Lane continues to pose danger, to the unaware motorists taking the turn into Radhakrishna Lane.
