Trivandrum: Health Minister VS Sivakumar declared that 12 primary health centres will be opened in the city before January 15. The minister was inaugurating the new health centre  at Vattiyoorkavu, which is the fifth one out of the 12 promised.

The new health centres at Chakai, Karimadom Colony, Vettukad & Rajaji Nagar have already started service. The health centre at Thrikannapuram will be inaugurated on December 14.

“The facilities in the health sector are not reaching the people living in slums. So we are opening health centres near their homes”, said the minister in his speech. Other than this, two health centres will opened at Neyattinkara & one at Nedumangad.

Each health centre will have two doctors, two nurses, a pharmacist, a Lab technician and a hospital assistant. The OP time, considering the requests of residents, has been scheduled from 2 pm to 8 pm on all days except Sunday. Vaccinations for mothers & kids are available here. Regular medical camps will also be conducted.

The function was presided by K Muralidharan MLA.  Councillor TK Shree Lekha, and District Program Manager for National Rural Health Mission B Unnikrishnan were the others present.
