Trivandrum: The 2nd edition of the charity run ‘TRIVANDRUN’ is slated for January 10, Saturday. The debut event in 2014 was a highly successful one and had helped raise almost Rs.8.5 lakhs for 29 patients of the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC).

“This year’s fundraiser will be for Kidney patients from Trivandrum and Kollam.”, informed Krishnan, a volunteer of SARSAS - (Save A Rupee Spread A Smile) - the main organiser of the event along with Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS).

There will be three kinds of runs.

The popular Fun Run of 2 km would have TRIVANDRUN brand ambassador actor Suresh Gopi participating. District collector Biju Prabhakar and DCP Ajeetha Beegum will also participate in the run.

While the Endurance Run is an individual run of a distance 10 km, the Corporate Run is in an event in which 5 participants from each registered company will have to run 2 km each – like in a relay.

The Endurance run is scheduled to start at 5:30 in the morning from the Trivandrum Club premises and conclude at 8 a.m. While the other two runs would start at 6.00 a.m.

Speaking to Yentha, Krishnan said, “Several companies including Sun Tech and Sree Dhanya have registered. More are expected as there is always a last minute surge. We have had 2,000 individual registrations till now, more than what we had last year. After the run there will be a cultural event at Trivandrum Club where acclaimed violinist Balabhaskar will be performing.”

There will be traffic restrictions in the city from 5:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. at different important junctions in the city.
