Text Books To Go Online
Kerala to be the first to implement the project in the country | Akhil Rajarathinam

Trivandrum: IT@School project, a state govt. initiative, has planned to introduce ‘collaborative digital textbooks’ for students from Standard X next year. Kerala will be the first state to implement the project in the country.
 
As per sources, the e-textbooks and the links will be available on the web by January end and students will be able to use it fully from the next academic year. The e-textbooks allow students to click on an important word in the text which will take them to related links having animations, videos, games, interviews and other materials.
 


Although in phase one, the textbooks will be part of the state syllabus Class X only, it will be introduced for all classes from Class V to Class XII in the next phase.


Now, the SCERT makes available textbooks in the PDF format, whereas IT@School with C-DIT made the whole website in an animated PDF format.
 
Both students and teachers can contribute to the site, but only after SCERT approval. Initially Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be included. Nrow, learning can become interesting and entertaining as well!
