Security Beefed Up In Trivandrum
Border Security Force, India Reserve Battalion, State Armed Police and Central Industrial Security Force deployed across the state | Akhil Rajarathinam

Trivandrum: The security in the capital city has been beefed up as part of the 35th National Games thanks to Trivandrum hosting majority of the events. Thousands of athletes, IOA officials, media, technicians and delegates are here in the city as part of the games. Apart from the usual force, additional security has been deployed at all the 12 venues in the district. The city police have made night patrolling stronger. The patrolling team also has special armed personnel as part of the team. Sarajan, JEC Security while talking to Yentha said, “The entire city police will be accompanied by two companies of the Border Security Force and seven battalions of the India Reserve Battalion, State Armed Police and Central Industrial Security Force. Even the National Security Guards are expected to arrive. The Kazhakkuttam Police is in charge of the security at the periphery including the Games village.” |
The security has also taken into consideration Maoists' threat and reports of possible attacks via the coast. “The Games Village will have more security, since almost all the sportsmen in the city are accommodated there. There will be a 24 hr aerial surveillance there too,” adds Sarajan. City Police Commissioner H Venkatesh who is in charge of the city security issued a release announcing the adequate number of security personnel, surveillance cameras installed in the city. Contracted agencies will also take care of the additional security. |
