Trivandrum: As the mass run, ahead of National Games is around the corner, Police department will have a really hard time as they expect a huge turnout especially with a lot of Sachin fans expected to join in. The senior officers of the city police had a meeting to ensure the smooth conduct of the event and safety of the cricket legend.

As per the officials, barricades, ropes and over 250 to 300 policemen will be there to guard Tendulkar, all the way along the 1 km stretch from Secretariat gate to Central Stadium through MG Road.

Although the city police are confident about the smooth conduct of the event, still they admit that it will be a hard challenge as they can’t imagine how the public response would be.

As per the plans, the footpath along the stretch would be cleared and ropes would be laid on either side of the road to form a fence bordered by policemen.

"Vehicles would be restricted at south and north gates of secretariat. There will also be a protective ring comprising 40 policemen around the VVIPs in the run. Police in mufti will also be running along," said the City Police Commissioner.

Traffic will be regulated on city roads, especially on MG Road, from 9 in the morning onwards. Over 1 crore are expected to take part in the 'Run Kerala Run' event.
