Kochi: This Onam, get ready to use your mobile phone to energise your spirit and appetite. Now have your payasam, the Malayalee delicacy, delivered at your home by using just mobile handset.
In an innovative use of technology Amidray Technologies Pvt. Ltd, a Kochi- based startup, has launched a smart phone application for the payasam lovers of God’s Own Country.
“It is first time in India that a company has launching an application that helps order food through a smart phone having an android application,” said Pratheeksha A K, CEO of Amidray Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
‘m-payasam’ -- the payasam on mobile -- is an application which can easily be downloaded on an android phone to order the cuisine direct to home.
“Once the application is installed, all one has to do is to order the delicacy and it will be delivered at your place, absolutely without any hassle,” she added.
“Housewives can order payasam through this application, get it delivered at home, pay on delivery and have a relaxed Onam,” Prateeksha said, adding: “Initially, we will be accepting limited orders during this season and the order is open till 10 p.m. August 27.”
One can order payasams for August 28, 29 or 30 according to one’s requirements.
“Order delivery is restricted to Kochi city this time and will be expanded later with the next version release,” said the CEO of the company that was incubated at Technopark and StartUp Village.
AmidRay Technologies, run by a group of young entrepreneurs from Kerala, has devised this innovative mobile technology to ensure that the coming Onam is ‘smarter’ and ‘smoother’ with m-payasam.
About the USP of the application, Prateeksha said placing order through mobile would be a very different and exciting proposition. “In Kerala, payasam is an indispensable delicacy of Onam. Either you cook it at home or buy directly from caterers. It is very difficult to place order by ringing up a caterer and one has to buy it by visiting a shop. m-payasam is a very simple application that will make buying the delicacy hassle-free.”
Elaborating, she said her company had not forged any tie-ups with caterers for the payasam delivery. “It will be entirely our enterprise. We will provide it ourselves. Initially, there will be two varieties of payasam. Once a customer places an order, he/she would be informed about the price, and the delicacy would be home-delivered.”
