Trivandrum: The photo shows how people, who arrived late for the inauguration, were being held at the main gate of the stadium. The police handled the situation wisely although there was allegations that many of them having passes were also restricted the entry.

Anyway after the official inauguration was over many of them were allowed till the entrance where the cultural events were displayed on big screens.

Well who was really disappointed? Ones outside who could not get a peek or those who braved the sun for a few hours and were treated to some lip service? Well, that's a tough one.

Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishan had informed that free passes for the opening and closing ceremonies of the National Games would be issued from the stadium at Karyavattom after the inauguration of the stadium. Long queues and chaos followed and finally only a few passes were distributed from there.

Those who were not able to get the passes protested and the authorities informed that the passes will be made available from the counter at the Games office at the Chandrashekhar Nair Stadium. But, those who rushed to collect the pass at Chandrashekhar Stadium were also disappointed since the officials didn't have any idea regarding the issue of pass. An inevitable conflict between the crowd and officials ensued. The situation was brought under control after the Police arrived.

M A Vahid MLA, member of the NGOC finally released a note saying he had nothing to do with the issue of passes. Eventually, Thiruvanchoor announced that those without passes will also be able to attend the opening ceremony. And finally this is what happened!
