National Games 2015: No Compromise On Health

Trivandrum: Prof. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor of Physical Education at NSS College, Cherthala is the JEC of the Medical committee. And his job is to keep everyone at the Games Village healthy.

According to Arun all health facilities have been arranged to ensure that the athletes are fit for the games. The Games Village at Menamkulam has a mini hospital that provides basic care for over 9,000 Athletes and officials residing there.

“The Hospital  complex also include a Mini Operation Theatre, physiotherapy centre having skilled masseurs and also an Ayurveda centre for rejuvenation which is being implemented for the first time in the history of the National games. All facilities are under the direct supervision of the Director of Health Services (DHS) and will provide 24 hours free consultation and treatment. The hospital has 10 doctors and 25 other staff working on a 24/7 basis, in 3 shifts,” said Prof. Arun while talking to Yentha.


“Apart from the games village, there will be first aid points at all venues. In addition, six private super specialty hospitals will provide medical services to various venues at Trivandrum. Every venue will be having at least two ambulance services,” added Arun.

The Medical Committee for the 35th National Games have V Sivankutty, MLA as its chairman and the Director of Health Services (DHS) as the vice chairman.
