IFFK 2014: Opens Today; Dancing Arabs To Follow Inauguration

Trivandrum: Only a few hours left for the curtains to go up for the International Film Festival of Kerala. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the festival while Minister for Cinema

Thiruvanchur Radhakrishnan will preside over the function that is slated for a 5 p.m. start.

Eran Riklis’s Dancing Arabs will be screened after the ceremony. The presence of Tawfeek Barhom will be the highlight of the event.

A seven day long festival comprises 140 films by the most eminent film makers from all over the world with 10 film packages including International Competition, World Cinema, Contemporary Master, Retrospective, Indian Cinema, Malayalam Cinema Today, Country Focus, Jury Films, Chinese Film Package, French Film Package and so on.

 

The fest will be the venue of various interactive sessions like Meet the Director, In Conversation Sessions, Open Forums and Seminars along with Exhibitions.

 

 


Since the inauguration of the Delegate Cell on 8 December, over 9000 passes have been issued. A set of changes have been ushered in my the new team at the Chalachitra Academy. The next few days will prove if at least some of them have been successful.

The festival will conclude on 19 December.
