IFFK 2014: Open Forums, Seminars And More
Seminars on a wide variety of film topics will be held from December 13 to 14 at Hotel Hycinth | by Yentha

Trivandrum: IFFK 2014 is all set to present a series of interactive sessions for the delegates from December 12 to 19. ‘Meet the Director’ and ‘In Conversation’ sessions with eminent personalities, along with Seminars and Open Forums.

This year films will be showcased in 11 theatres; Kairali, Sree, Nila, Sreekumar, Sreevishak, Kalabhavan, Dhanya, Nishagandhi Open Theatre and in New Theatre’s 3 screens.

‘Meet the Director’ sessions will be held on all days in screen-3 of New Theatre. Conversation sessions with popular directors will be held in Kairali Theatre from December 14 to 17 from 5 p.m. onwards.


19th IFFK also hosts ‘In Conversation’ sessions with renowned film makers. Conversation with Jury Chairman and popular Chinese director Xei Fie, Marco Bellochio and Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be conducted on December 14, 15th and 17th respectively.

Acclaimed Filmmaker from Sri Lanka, Sumitra Peries, will deliver the Arivandan Memorial lecture on ‘Let There be Light’ on December 16 in Kairali Theatre.

Seminars on a wide variety of film topics will be held from December 13 to 16 at Hotel Hycinth:

1)    ‘Stan Brakhage: The Act of Seeing with One’s Own Eyes’ by Suranjan Ganguly.

2)    ‘New media & Novel Distribution methods for Cinema’ which will be presented by Ujwal Nirgudkar, scheduled on Dec 14 at 2:30 p.m.

3)    The third seminar is to be held on Dec 15 from 2 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. by Anjum Rajabali in two sessions, the first session is on screen adaptations and the second session focuses on gender sensitization at the screenplay level.

4)    The fourth seminar will be by Surjoday Chaterjee on Dec 16 at 2:30 p.m. which will showcase the Goethe Institute Film Archive collection which consists of over 500 films.
