Global Ayurveda Festival Concludes
‘Ayurveda should be accorded the highest priority in the State's development plan,’ said Industries Minister | By Yentha

Trivandrum: Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty inaugurated the closing ceremony of the six-day Global Ayurveda Festival on February 14 at the Kanakakakkunnu Palace grounds. The festival showcased various aspects of Ayurveda.


“The state should give highest priority to Ayurveda in the development plan. There is a lot more to do in this field to make it global. The world is coming back to nature and this is the time to promote Ayurveda,” said the Minister in his inaugural address.


A 11-point declaration was announced in the concluding ceremony. It insisted the state to declare ‘Kerala as the Ayurveda State of India and set up a separate ministry for Ayurveda, to include Ayurveda Biology in the school curriculum, to establish a global network to promote authentic Ayurvedic products, to  set up Centres of Excellence (CoE) in clinical practice in various specialties of Ayurveda , to set up a certification agency for the promotion of ‘authentic Kerala Ayurveda' products and services and to enhance the cultivation of medicinal plants in small land holdings.



Over one lakh visitors apart from the 3000 delegates visited the Arogya Expo, a mega exhibition of various Ayurveda products.  

Somatheeram beach resorts, Nagarjuna Pharma and Kottakal Arya Vaidya Sala received the best stalls prizes in the expo. The Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram, won the award for the best stall put up by an educational institution.
