Trivandrum: It has been a sweet week for the folks of Trivandrum as they were shown a healthy way to indulge that sweet tooth. Red, Yellow, Brown and Black imported dates from Oman, Saudi Arabia and African countries along with a wide variety of honey with medicinal values which could check obesity, fever and cold were introduced to the city at the Honey-Dates Festival organized by Prakruthi Arogya Vichara at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium.
The aim of the festival is to propagate the quality and goodness of original honey and familiarise the public with dates imported from various countries.
“Majority of the dates exhibited here have been imported from Iran, Iraq, Muscat, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Raw dates are also available here. The yellow coloured one is from Rajasthan, dry dates are called ‘Karakka’ which you can keep for many years,” explained the stall keeper.
The other varieties of dates include Barari, Fard, Mariami, Manama and Harmony. The festival also displays ‘cheruthen’ from Kottoor forests and Coorg honey from Mysore.
Yentha shares some tempting visuals from this ‘sweet festival’.
