Cinema Vandi would halt for seven to 10 days in each district | Akhil Rajarathinam

Trivandrum: Eminent film director Adoor Gopalakrishnan flagged off ‘Cinema Vandi’ an initiative by Kazhcha Film Forum to screen films on the move. ‘Cinema Vandi’ will travel across the state, spreading the message of meaningful cinema among film lovers.

‘Oral Pokkam’ will be the first movie, which ‘Cinema Vandi’ would take to the viewers through a road trip from Trivandrum to Kasaragod.

‘Oral Pokkam’ directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan was produced by Kazhcha Film forum through  public funding. The film received the FIPRESCI and NETPAC awards at IFFK 2014. It also bagged many positive reviews internationally. The forum is planning to reach out to the people by screening the movie to social groups in the state including film clubs, sports clubs, associations and so on.

The fund for the project will be mainly through contributions from audience and film lovers. Many organizations have come up in support and solidarity for the program.


The society is planning to organise international screenings also. The first screening will be at the Sydney Film Lover’s Forum in Australia and also there will be screenings in Canberra and Ireland.
