Actress Ragini To Be Remembered
A photo exhibition and a breast cancer awareness campaign to be held at the same venue | By Yentha

Trivandrum: 'Swagatham Ormayil Ragini' a program remembering yesteryear actress Ragini will be held at Yuvajana Library at Poojapura here on Saturday.

 

The programme will be held on her 41st death anniversary. A photo exhibition will be conducted by transgender poetess and social activist Vijaya Raja Mallika that will exhibit rare pictures of the Travancore sisters. 

 

So the occasion an awareness campaign on breast cancer has been organised. One may recall that Ragini had succumbed to breast cancer. 

Ragini who started her acting career in 1949 with her sisters Lalitha and Padmini in the film titled Devamanohari. She also acted in other languages including Tamil, Telungu, Kannada in over 200 films.

 

She reveived the Sangeeta Nadaka Acadamy award for best actress in 1962 and 1963. Her famous films include Bharya, Panchavankadu, Kalpana, Ezhai Pankalan, Unniyarcha, Aayriam Roopayi, Thooki Thooki and Lanka dahanam. Aliganam a film by director I V Sasi released in 1976 was her last film.
