Kathakali, the art of storytelling through 'Mudras and Nava-Rasas,' that originated in Kerala, is one of the oldest theatre forms in the world.
This colourful art form beautifully portrays the epic stories from Ramayana and Mahabharatha. The intricate stages of Kathakali make-up is an interesting aspect where each character is expressed in different colours.
The extraordinary make-up transcends the actors into Gods and they take the audience into the world of Ramayana and Mahabharatha.
Yentha shares images of the artist transforming into Lord Shiva in Irayamman Thampi's attakatha- 'Dakshyagam' which was performed at the Kanakakkunnu Palace as part of the Nishagandhi Festival.
