CRIS CRACKS: I Hate Technology

I do not like mobile phones. But like some curse, these little devils keep following me no matter where I go. I am sure when man created them, he accidentally slipped in some DNA or whatever it is that gives life to a thing! How else can you explain their typical human quality of annoying you and bothering you every now and then! I tell you it even smirks at you when you are not looking!
I was able to dump this little smirker for a short while last year. But bam like a boomerang it comes back to me. My mother makes a totally unreasonable accusation that I am one of those species that come to earth with no 'bodham' (presence of mind) and that it is breaking of law for such species to not have a tracking device. I protest this. Just because I forget a little here and there and get lost a little there and here and err come with a few other flaws everywhere, it does not mean I need to depend on a ghastly little machine that beeps and rings without warning! And luck would have it that I enter a profession that does not let me stay away from these little monsters! But let me take this topic further. It is not just mobile phones that bother me. That is only a start. My problem goes way deep. You can call it technology phobia. In this case however, the phobia means that I am averse to technology. I am a primitive woman. Oye oye oye oye oye oye oye I am Tarzan from jungle,
I could climb a tree.
Ok I am not quite in the habit of swinging trees and chasing wild animals. But I like Flintstones. Yabba Dabba Doo! I like reading a hard-bound novel than sitting in front of a computer and reading a webpage. I like writing my letters, not typing emails. I like to wait long and make it that precious to wait for a message from a dear one. Not one of those instant chat messengers or those horrible SMS messages! They have no right to come so fast! Some of them even come with a face and a voice these days! The nerve! I also hate Google Maps. And that has nothing to do with the little fact that even a software knows directions and I don't. And don't even get me started on coding! |
I like to make one thing clear though. MP3 players and Ipods are not really connected with technology. It is something like a volcano. Without any help of technology it just erupts. Same thing with these music players. It is Nature's gift. If you look closely you can see how much they resemble little black mushrooms. I mean why is a blackberry called a black berry? It all fits in doesn't it? Nature did it all (You say a blackberry is a phone? Well it is still a berry!). So are such things as washing machines or dish washers. They are for washing this and washing that. No relation at all with technology cause all technology is afraid of water. Another one that is absolutely remote from technology is a camera. Directly from Nature. Quite trustworthy. Still not convinced? Let me help you. You are outside near a pond with your dearly beloved (DB). Both of you are looking at the moon and thinking - well let's leave the thinking to you. And then suddenly your DB's phone starts ringing and her boss barks into it. She gets up and runs away murmuring about some little unfinished work or bug. You are left looking alone at the moon and thinking - well let's leave that part again to you. So you ready to join my Anti-Techie gang? We ATs are smart primitive men and women, who walk with a club and scowl like a tiger. Sometimes we hibernate for months. We lead quite an interesting life. I will tell you what. Anything that doesn't talk to you or trace you or act human can be trusted. The others are some kind of evil monsters unleashed by an alien King. You will soon find them growing tentacles on all sides and demanding to see the King of Earth to ask him to surrender. No doubt about it. And then you are going to feel really remorseful. I don't want you telling me that I didn't warn you. ![]() Cris Seetha

Technology is not a bane. But you are right that it can spoil our life if we allow tech to overrule us.

Technology is a boon, and you have to accept it! :) I read the post via technology, not the conventional media. So no AT!!

@Resmi, exactly! It is like those Terminator movies are coming true!
@Srijith, who asked you to read it via technology. You should have written it down on a piece of paper and then read it!

I share the same thoughts with you. I too get this creepy feeling that one day we're all going to be so much enslaved to technology. It reminds me of a short story in my school days that talked about humans being ruled by robots. The day is not too far, I guess!
