Kowdiar, Trivandrum: The cabinet today gave  consent to Chief Secretary of the state to send a clarification letter to the TECOM, regarding the Smart City issue. The decision has come up in the wake of the stalemate between the government and the TECOM authorities. The cabinet has also decided to exclude the company from the project, if they fail to give a reply to the letter within 15 days.

TECOM has already sent a letter to the authorities seeking permission to start the construction works without any delay. It has asked the government to sort out the issues at the earliest. But the state government hasn’t given a reply to the letter yet.

One of the highlighted projects in the election agenda of the ruling Left Democratic Front government, the project has plunged into a myriad of problems due to the dispute between the state government and the TECOM over the freehold land-right issue.

Earlier, the state government took legal action against the company when the project got entangled in the dispute between the two. But, the government withdrew from this on the advice of the Advocate General. The recent decision from the cabinet has once again halted the project.

TECOM CEO, Fareed Abdul Rahman replied to media from Dubai that TECOM will enter into any kind of discussion, only after receiving the letter from the government.
