Mammooty, Padmapriya Win Surya Awards

Trivandrum: His performances in films like 'Pazhassiraja', 'Palerimanikyam' and 'Loudspeaker' have earned Mammooty the best actor (male) award in the recently announced Surya TV awards.

Padmapriya, for her authentic performances in 'Pazhassiraja' and 'Bhoomimalayalam', has been adjudged the best actor (female). 'Ritu', directed by Shyamaprasad, bagged the award for best film, while Ranjith Sankar, who directed 'Passenger', is the best debutant director. MG Sreekumar and Shreya Ghoshal have been chosen as the best male and female singers.

ONV Kurup, TV Chandran, KJ Yesudas and Sasikumar, who acted in the movie Loudspeaker, are given special jury awards for their contributions to the Malayalam film industry.

The awards, instituted by Surya TV and Kerala Film Producers’ Association, will be distributed in Kochi on October 15.

Others who bagged awards are: Indrans (second best male actor), Swetha Menon (second best female actor), Jagadish (comedian), Jagathy Sreekumar (villain), Baby Nivedita (child artiste), Nishan, Archana Kavi (debutant actor), Jayaraj, PY Jose (story), MT Vasudevan Nair (script), Girish Puthanchery (lyrics), M Jayachandran (music direction), Bijipal (background music), Ajayan Vincent (cinematography), Beena Paul (editing), Muthuraj (art direction),  Harikumar (sound mixing) and Rima Kallingal (special award for acting).
