| Kowdiar, Trivandrum: State Election Commission (SEC) has announced to conduct the local body elections by the end of October. The elections will most probably take place in between 27 or 28, but the date has to be finalised yet. Last day, High Court division bench has directed the SEC to conduct the elections before November 1 and that too in single phase. This decision from the SEC has come up in the wake of the Division Bench’s direction and the government had already communicated to the court that they wouldn’t be able to conduct the election in multi-phase. |
The commission also have informed that administrative committees or Special Officers will be put in-charge as the heads of these local bodies after the completion of the tenure of the present governing bodies and these peoples shouldn’t have the discretion to take any policy making decisions.
