Global Energy Parliament To Be Held In Trivandrum

| Statue, Trivandrum: Without energy, there is no movement, no universe. It is with this thought that a new international project to create public awareness about energy is being launched by the charitable service organisation, Isa Viswa Prajnana Trust (IVPT). Called the ‘Global Energy Parliament’ (GEP), the project proposes to bring together scientists, leaders, organisations, and experts in all areas, to find practical solutions for ‘equilibrating the individual, society, nature and our universe’. The first session of the parliament is being held on 12-14 November in Trivandrum. It will focus on education, environment, agriculture, economy and sustainable development, medicine and health, language and arts. There will be student and public events with outcomes expected to charge off local energy action groups, research centres, publications etc. Former Vice Chancellor for MG University, Dr. A Sukumaran Nair will be the chairman and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala, the chief patron, for the function. Guyana Health Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, State Law Minister M Vijayakumar, MP of Trivandrum Dr. Shashi Tharoor, are among the guests of honour. Experts from various fields, including filmmaker Dr. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Women’s Commission Chairperson Justice D Sreedevi, Chairman of Ananthapuri Hospital Dr. A Marthanda Pillai, Vice Chancellor of Kerala University Dr. A Jayakrishnan, etc. will participate in the event. |
In 2001, the IVPT had conducted a number of national and international conferences in Trivandrum, to popularise the philosophy of ‘Education for Total Consciousness’, which has been adopted in many schools.
