Trivandrum: Dr. Kishore Kumar, a spirited physician is on the search of the first batch of Trivandrum Medical College. Tracing the 63 students of the 1951 batch for the past three months, Dr Kishore has still more to travel if he hopes to glean fruitful results.
In spite of not being a student of TMC, Dr Kishore found himself being interested when he heard accounts from his friends Dr P N Bhaskar and Dr Paul, students of the first batch that they never had the chance of a get together. So, in light of the upcoming Diamond Jubilee Celebration of medical education in the state, Dr Kishore hopes to convene a reunion, for all of them to reminisce about their old days and talk about the growth and progress of the medical practice over the years .
Setting off on his quest, he was faced with the bitter knowledge of the death of 23 doctors. However, he has been able to trace 22 doctors in and around the city. The batch also had the presence of several brilliant practitioners in the field of medicine. To mention a few, Dr M S Valiathan, the founder-director of Sree ChitraTirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Dr M Balaraman Nair and renowned physicians Dr. K V Krishnadas and Dr P P Joseph. |
While speaking to Yentha, Dr Kishore Kumar said "it will be difficult as
many had departed from the country after their studies. Still, I have
hope in this search, where all would be well over 80". |
