ANMPI Amrita Sentinel Node Imaging & Biopsy Workshop

ANMPI (Association of Nuclear Medicine Physicians of India) Amrita Sentinel Node Imaging & Biopsy Workshop is the first of its kind that aims to combine a right mix of nuclear medicine physicians and oncosurgeons in building a robust sentinel node imaging programme in their respective institutes / private settings. This programme is being organised by the Department of Nuclear Medicine in association with Head, Neck Surgery and Surgical Oncology departments of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. The workshop is scheduled to be held during August 5-6, 2016 and is aimed at providing a platform for nuclear medicine doctors and oncosurgeons to improvise on their existing knowledge or start afresh on the technical aspects, radiopharmacy, methodologies, and surgical aspects. The conference will connect nuclear medicine experts from India and abroad with various oncosurgeons creating a link between the two fields. Together, the delegates will strike to identify their strengths and weakness in identifying sentinel nodes in head, neck, breast and gynaecological malignancies. Surgical delegates will be instructed regarding the methodology of using various types of gamma probes, radio tracers, timing of injection to surgery, injection techniques,  blue dye techniques etc apart from the surgical aspects.  Live demonstration of the radiotracer preparation, injections and surgical procedures from various operation theatres will be the highlights apart from interactive discussion with the expert panels. The conference will initiate a successful oncological programme which will help to minimize peri and postoperative risk.
